COUNTY - SHERIFF
96-003-E     An individual elected coroner may not serve as a deputy sheriff for the county he serves as coroner. Violation of 25-4-105(3)(a). [10, 11, 13]
96-017-E     A county deputy sheriff may be appointed town marshal of a municipality located within the county employing the deputy sheriff. Cautioned regarding 25-4-101 and 25-4-105(1). [7, 11, 13]
96-061-E     An assistant jail administrator may simultaneously hold the position of arson investigator since state statute requires that the arson investigator be a member of the sheriff's department. [11, 13]
96-079-E     The forming of a monthly club and charging a fee by a sheriff to provide information about the sheriff's department is prohibited by §25-4-105(1) and contrary to the Public Policy in §25-4-101. [13]
96-112-E     An individual that has been elected to the office of county election commissioner may become an employee of the sheriff's department of the county as the elected and employment positions are in separate authorities of the county government thereby allowing the exception in §25-4-105(4)(h) to apply. Cautioned regarding §25-4- 105(1) and §25-4-101. [11, 13, 21]
96-116-E     The conflict of interest laws do not prohibit a constable from being paid his or her statutorily authorized fees for services rendered as a constable even though he or she also may be employed as a deputy sheriff for the county. Cautioned regarding §25-4- 105(3)(a) because of the employment contract as a deputy sheriff. [13, 16]
96-136-E     Code Section 25-4-105(3)(a) prohibits a constable from simultaneously serving as the arson investigator for the county where the constable is elected to serve. [11, 13, 16]
